LARGE FORMA DIGITAL X-RAY
CAElliott designed and managed prototype production of this large-format wall-mounted digital x-ray machine. The unit is used by veterinarians and chiropractors to rapidly visualize structural issues in animals and humans. The unit can slide up and down and tilt up or down to capture a wide variety of images. Precision optical design and mounting of lenses and mirrors made for a challenging & interesting project.
INP CHIP OPTICAL TRANSCEIVER
An Ottawa based startup enlisted the services of CAElliott to design the mechanical package and provide PCB outlines for this SFF compliant optical transceiver. The design was thermally optimized using computational fluid dynamics software that simulated both natural convection through the enclosure and conduction from the PCB to the heat sinks on the cast metal base.
CONCUSSION RESISTANT HOCKEY HELMET
This image is a photo-rendering of a concussion resistant hockey helmet that entered the retail market in 2008. Working closely with a local industrial design firm, CAElliott provided CAD models for the outer plastic parts in two sizes. The parts had sophisticated parting lines and very challenging moulded features. As fans of Canada’s pass time, we were thrilled to help make the game safer.
HEART MONITOR & CAPACITIVE ELECTRODES
These two exploded view designs are for a chest wearable heart monitor for outpatient use during recovery and a capacitive electrode that is far more comfortable to wear than traditional ECG electrodes.CAElliott engineers were instrumental in the design and development of these medical devices in collaboration with a progressive startup company.
